Rough Rider Construction was founded in 2018 and brings over 30 years of combined experience in the construction industry.
Our accounting department specializes in Project Accounting and has supported major general contractors throughout the Central Florida area. This experience ensures strong financial oversight, accurate cost tracking, and efficient project coordination on every job.
Rick brings decades of hands-on construction experience, beginning his career in the late 1980’s learning drywall while working for one of the largest drywall contracting companies of that time. He was trained in every aspect of the trade and has since completed numerous large-scale Residential and Commercial projects.
Today, Rough Rider Construction partners with several national home builders and is actively working in eight communities, ranging from single-family and multi-family developments to a select group of custom home builders. While we remain a small, hands-on company, we are recognized as one of the leading residential construction contractors in Central Florida.
About Rough Rider Construction
We provide complete drywall services, including hang, finish, texture, and Level 5 finishes for custom projects.
Our team includes multiple punch-out crews and texture crews, and most importantly, we have worked with the same core group of skilled hangers and finishers for over five years. This consistency allows us to deliver reliable quality, meet schedules, and maintain high standards on every project.
In the past, we also built spec homes in partnership with one of our general contractors and achieved great success. As the market shifted, we chose to refocus on what we do best—drywall—and leave the building to those better positioned to navigate today’s economy.
Rough Rider Construction is a preferred vendor partner for major national home builders who value our hands-on, customer-focused approach—a level of service many in the industry have lost over the years. We are built on the belief that exceptional customer service leads to long-term relationships and referrals, and that principle remains the foundation of our company.
Commercial
While Rough Rider Construction is not currently involved in commercial construction, our team brings substantial past experience in this sector. We have completed numerous Aldi grocery store builds, tenant build-outs, and strip mall projects throughout our earlier years.
Our commercial scope included metal framing, insulation, and both interior and exterior drywall systems. This experience strengthened our understanding of large-scale scheduling, coordination with multiple trades, and strict quality and safety standards—knowledge that continues to benefit our residential projects today.
Residential
Rough Rider Construction provides full drywall services for a wide range of residential builders, including Stanley Martin Homes, GTI Holdings, Jennah & Associates, FID Capital Group, Hegstrom Custom Homes, and Augustine Homes.
Our experience spans everything from tract homes and large residential developments to multi-million-dollar custom homes, delivering the same level of quality, consistency, and attention to detail on every project—regardless of size or scope.
Interior
Our interior services include drywall installation and finishing, with standard textures such as knockdown ceilings and orange peel walls.
For custom homes, we offer upgraded finishes including coffered ceilings, custom built-ins, and Level 5 smooth (slick) finishes, delivering a high-end look with precise attention to detail.
Interior Quality Standards
Our interior expertise is built on years of hands-on training and the ability to recognize quality at every stage of the process. We carefully evaluate our subcontractors’ work to ensure excellence in drywall hanging, finishing, and texturing.
